Plus Training in the Sanford Meisner Technique
Acting Adult (meisner technique training)
Level: All Levels
Ages: Adults 18+
Description: This ‘Fear Free’ course will focus on the basics of acting including; theatre exercises, stage direction, monologues, scene, and auditioning. This class – newly expanded to 2 hours per evening for a limited time – will spend the second hour introducing students to the Sanford Meisner Technique. The goal of the Meisner technique has often been described as getting actors to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” The technique emphasizes that in order to carry out an action truthfully on stage, it is necessary to let emotion and subtext build based on the truth of the action and on the other characters around them, rather than simply playing the action or playing the emotion. The teacher, Jared Kelner, was founder of the Actor’s Playhouse in San Jose, California, and studied at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre. The six week evening course will develop confidence, skill and an overview of the art of acting. For new and returning students.
