Play Kids

Level: All Levels

Ages: Children 5-7

Teacher: Melissa Pinto

Description: The course is a combination of storytelling, creative acting out and theatre games that entertain and help develop expression, imagination and self confidence. Play Kids meet for 6 one-hour classes Saturday mornings and culminates with a “LOOK at ME” for friends and family.

6 Saturday Mornings from 10am to 11am beginning Saturday, October 10th

Tuition:  $130 (Early Enrollment Discount available until Sept 26th: $115)

Playkids is an hour long acting class on Saturdays that teaches children, ages 5 to 7, the fundamentals of public speaking, the skills they will need to audition for a play, social interaction, and creative thinking through improvisation and play writing. We strive to create a safe and secure environment in which your child can learn, grow and express themselves creatively.

Playkids is also a safe environment so even the shyest child will feel comfortable sharing their ideas and learning the three things every actor needs to perform; the body, the voice, and imagination. Through games and acting exercises children become more relaxed on stage and learn to project their voices and their ideas. The skills and games they play and learn in class can easily be used at school, at home, or with friends. At the end of every Playkids session the children perform a play that they write and develop with very little help from their teachers so the play is always new and exciting.

I hope you will allow your child to join us and share in this learning and fun experience. — Melissa

Acting Out is an hour and a half long acting class that takes place on  Saturday mornings.  It teaches children, ages 8 to 12, fundamental acting skills that they can apply to their future acting careers, school assignments, as well as their overall confidence in the real world.  Each week the class will cover a variety of topics that our students will be able to focus upon.  The topics range from audition prep to working as an ensemble and from monologues to scene work, culminating in an interactive presentation for the parents on the last Saturday morning class. We strive to create a safe and secure environment in which your child can learn, grow and express themselves creatively.

Ms. Michele Greenspan is thrilled to join the Acting Academy  teaching community as the Acting Out teacher. A veteran to the stage, Ms. Greenspan has been acting since the age of 9 in the New Jersey community theater scene. She has been fortunate enough to work consistently both on stage and backstage to develop her craft and learn as much as she could about the theater world.  Ms.  Greenspan is a New Jersey State certified Theater and English teacher and has been fortunate enough to work at and direct in the theater departments of Hammarskjold Middle School, Howell High School’s FPAC program and is currently a teacher at Carl H Kumpf Middle School.  She is ecstatic to work with each and every one of her new students and cannot wait to begin this exciting journey.
