Play Kids
Level: Introductory
Ages: Children 5-8
Description: The course is a combination of storytelling, creative acting out and theatre games that entertain and help develop expression, imagination and self confidence. Play Kids meet for 6 one-hour classes Saturday mornings and culminates with a “LOOK at ME” for friends and family.
6 Saturday Mornings from 10am to 11am beginning April 6th
Tuition: $115 ($100 for Early Enrollment by 4/1)

Acting Out
Level: Introductory and Returning Student
Ages: Youngsters 8-12
Description: Students will be introduced to the basics of acting through theatre games and acting exercises. Imagination, movement, voice and memory will be utilized to help students experience and learn fundamental performance skills. Youngsters are encouraged to enroll with one or more friends or siblings.

Enter Acting
Level: Introductory, Intermediate and Returning Students
Ages: Young people 12-17
Description: Students will explore acting through games, exercises and script readings of monologues and scenes. Individual attention will be provided for all levels of student’s acting experience. Fundamentals of the actor’s craft including movement, blocking and stage direction will also be covered, as well as the basics of stagecraft and play production. Students will be invited to volunteer for a Playhouse 22 production and will receive a complimentary ticket to a performance.

Acting Adult – Audition Technique and Monologue Preparation
Level: All Levels (Beginner and Experience Actors)
Ages: Adults 18+
Description: For beginners as well as continuing adult acting students. This 6-session course will give an overall view of various acting styles (The Method, Meisner, etc.). Course work will concentrate on two things every actor needs to know – Audition Techniques and Monologue Preparation. Exercises will be performed to assist in Relaxation and Concentration. Monologues will be analyzed to determine Given Circumstances, Objectives, Relationships, etc. And, as a bonus, local directors (for instance, Robert Gargiullo and Jonathan Wierzbicki – subject to change due to scheduling) will attend classes to offer their feedback related to the student’s monologues and how to improve auditions. This course will be taught by Gerry Appel, Academy Director. Gerry was trained in the Strasberg Method at New York’s Circle-in-the-Square Theatre School and has appeared at numerous regional theatres throughout the country.
6 Sunday Evenings starting Sunday, April 14th at 7pm
